okay, so this isn’t a sports blog and i’m not going to talk about the c’s. i am, however, going to shout out christopher rockswell, aka develin of develin and darko, who recently moved up here and was sporting a pretty fly c’s hat. he’s from baltimore and no one expects him to work any bullets gear (esp. since the bullets had two failed attempts at existing are now the wizards of all teams.) so welcome to beantown chris.

well, show with spankro was pretty slamming. big thank you to everyone that came out. as you can see, there are changes, surprises, moments of awe and wonder. ups to chris (soundguy), ronnie, spankrock, paserock, ben (happy birthday) and others. for those of you who weren’t able to get tickets: we’ll be back soon, i promise.

in the meantime, go root for the celtics, they need it right now. (there’s always hope, though, especially with such a young team.)

From Shining Sea To Frozen Tundra

Well, it looks like I missed that ever important next day window for recapping Miss Fairchild’s recent strong. You see, I spent nearly the entirety of Thursday, Friday and Saturday awake, and come Sunday, there were not enough remaining braincells to form one complete sentence, let alone several complete sentences to make paragraphs and such. Well, now we’re at Wednesday and I still have doubts about the projected coherence of my ramblings, but here I go anyway…

Bringing It All Back Home (no new info)

Bring_l

People: we love you. You are the reason this is good and I thank for you that.

Miss Fairchild made a little homecoming last night, to the place that, in a way, it all started. You see, Daddy Wrall, the Great Dunlap and Samuel P. Nice used to play in this band Jive Sucka! way back in 1997-8 that foreshadowed in a serious way what’s going down nowadays. That band lived and played on Nantucket Island and it is to her shores that we returned last night with the new five piece band.

And Nantucket really came out for us. Came out and supported the band, supported the music, supported the upcoming album, supported its own. You folks exceeded my expectations.

And hopefully we did the same for you.

For those of you who don’t know what’s up, it’s a whole new era in Fairchildland and if I were you, I would get on the train now, while you still can. Those of you that have been with us all along: say word, motherlovers; you guys got it going on.

And on we go. See you at the next show.

PEOPLE!!!!! (What you doin’?)

Well, we at MF are standing on the verge of getting it on, motherlovers. I have to say sorry for my long absence from this blog. It isn’t that there is nothing going on, more that there is too much going on. We’ll get to that shortly.

For those of you who aren’t hip to the e-mail list, two things: (1) get hip, go to missfairchild.com and sign up; (2) uh, it sounds kind of drastic, but we have a new band.

Billy Preston

Hi People.

I haven’t written in a while, but that doesn’t mean that things aren’t happening. The album is coming along brilliantly and we have some surprises in store for our new live show. The news, though, is not happy. The music that has played the most prominent role in my listening over the past six or seven months has been two albums called That’s the Way God Planned It and Encouring Words, both excellent and both by a man that passed yesterday at 59: Billy Preston.

I was first inspired to check out his music after seeing his turn in George Harrison’s Concert for Bangladesh. These two albums (some of the only albums available in totality on cd) were both produced by George Harrison and are inspirational. They exude joy and positivity without being soft or boring. It is a mournful day as this lost strikes us deep. We will miss Billy, even if we never knew him. He played on some of your favorite music, from the Beatles to Ray Charles. Search for him on Google Image and tell me that isn’t an infectious smile. Or watch the “Get Back” clip from the Let it Be film on youtube.com and watch for Billy’s entrance. He said, “Soul can’t be measured by size” and that’s good because we don’t have numbers big enough to measure his.

Daffodil Weekend

Daffodils-small-yellow

After shows, many of y’all ask where we from. Normally, we shake our heads and reply, “New England.” That’s rarely enough, as most of you are either a) from New England, b) have been to the place, or c) have family and friends here. Invariably follows, “Where in New England?” or..”Oh, like Boston?” And then we reply, “Well, we practice in Providence, RI, except when we don’t. And we do a lot of mixing, mastering and performing in Portland, ME, and P.Nice hails from Cambridge originally, but… Oh yeah, Daddy Wrall and I live on Nantucket.”

Introducing Moyne LeHoyne Hoins

Hello Fanchildren:

My name is Moyne and as I have been doing for the past few days, I will be filling in for the injured Dunlap. Worry not, his hands and ears are unaffected. In fact, physically he is fine (if just a wee tired…) It is his mental faculties that are of concern. (Enough so that I have hope that I might replace him in the band.)
