In my last blog entry, I spoke of possible tour mvps. One such candidate was that first meal of the day: breakfast. On many days I don’t eat breakfast, which is odd since it’s my favorite meal; in fact, I haven’t once eaten before noon since we finished our tour. Until this morning, that is. I woke up way too early today, after far less sleep than necessary. It wasn’t my intention to do so, but the moon, while beautiful, was just too doggone bright, dagnabit. Anyhow, breakfast ensued, and while nothing to write home about in and of itself, certainly got me thinking about Miss Fairchild’s favorite breakfast joints. We always do a top six around here, since that’s my particular number (do you remember that little tidbit about OLLSS’s tracklisting?)and well, I’m the one writing this blog, so I’ll certainly list six places. In fact, though, this is really a top five with one honorable mention. You’ll see why shortly.
After playing Firehouse 13 in Providence, Miss Fairchild defined the Stamina Show by heading with a quickness to Nantucket Island, the original home of Jive Sucka! and the old stomping grounds for us all…
Hi there. Please enjoy some photographs of Miss Fairchild playing a fashion benefit for the Nantucket AIDS Network. Remember, Daddy Wrall jumped in the pool and all that?
August 2007
Miss Fairchild, the Boston-based Pop-Funk band, announce the release of their sophomore long-player Ooh La La, Sha Sha… on Tuesday, September 4, 2007. With a style that distills the best funk and pop music from the past thirty years into a fresh new sound, the album fuses the band’s flair for spectacle with a genuine knack for what works.
Well, well, well. It seems that Miss Fairchild was on television yesterday. (I say “seems” not because I didn’t know, but beacuse I can’t believe it was yesterday. Time flies when you’re playing funk music!) We stopped over at the Plum TV ‘Morning, Noon & Night’ Show while we were waiting for the ferry, and looking each 1/3 cowboy and 2/3 dapper (that’s a whole lot of fly, by the way), were recruited to take their program home for them. So, if you missed it live (it was live! Did I mention that?), see it now and let them know what you think.
[It’s just Miss Fairchild, by the way. You’ll have to go to Youtube if you want to see The Miss Fairchild Show.]

Well, well, well. For those of you who missed it, there was some pretty wacky stuff happening at 36 Hummock Pond Road on Nantucket last night. Between Daddy Wrall leaping into the pool fully clothed during our set and some folks leaping into the pool, um… less fully clothed right after we finished, it’s safe to say that somebody had a good time last night.
We had a really fun show tonight at the Rose & Crown. For me, it’s really great to be back on the island after being away for the past few months. I can really appreciate the air here. In fact, the night ended for me with a really long walk. Of course, it was raining (just call me Charlie Brown...), but that did more to add to the brilliance of the night than it did to detract.
So, it was a good night. But one with it’s share of (let’s call them) interesting moments.
People: we love you. You are the reason this is good and I thank for you that.
Miss Fairchild made a little homecoming last night, to the place that, in a way, it all started. You see, Daddy Wrall, the Great Dunlap and Samuel P. Nice used to play in this band Jive Sucka! way back in 1997-8 that foreshadowed in a serious way what’s going down nowadays. That band lived and played on Nantucket Island and it is to her shores that we returned last night with the new five piece band.
And Nantucket really came out for us. Came out and supported the band, supported the music, supported the upcoming album, supported its own. You folks exceeded my expectations.
And hopefully we did the same for you.
For those of you who don’t know what’s up, it’s a whole new era in Fairchildland and if I were you, I would get on the train now, while you still can. Those of you that have been with us all along: say word, motherlovers; you guys got it going on.
And on we go. See you at the next show.

After shows, many of y’all ask where we from. Normally, we shake our heads and reply, “New England.” That’s rarely enough, as most of you are either a) from New England, b) have been to the place, or c) have family and friends here. Invariably follows, “Where in New England?” or..”Oh, like Boston?” And then we reply, “Well, we practice in Providence, RI, except when we don’t. And we do a lot of mixing, mastering and performing in Portland, ME, and P.Nice hails from Cambridge originally, but… Oh yeah, Daddy Wrall and I live on Nantucket.”
